About me...
Hi, I'm Laima, owner and therapist at L. P. Massage Therapy.
I'm a massage therapist, gym enthusiast and mum, with a background in Sports Science and Sports Physiotherapy. Movement and sport have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember — from track and field, basketball, martial arts and handball to the training I enjoy today.
My original career path was Sports Physiotherapy. I wanted to understand how the body moves, why injuries happen and how to help people return to the activities they enjoy. I completed a bachelor's degree in Sports Science followed by a master's degree in Sports Physiotherapy, and worked as a physiotherapist in Latvia for five years before eventually moving to New Zealand.
It was here that I discovered a real passion for sports massage and decided to make massage therapy my full-time career.
My background gives me a strong understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, movement and the demands that training and everyday life can place on the body. I bring that knowledge into my massage practice while recognising the scope of my role as a massage therapist.
I don't follow the same formula for every client. Sessions are adapted to the individual and may incorporate different massage techniques, stretching, dry needling or cupping where appropriate, depending on your preferences and what we're working on that day.
Your wellbeing comes first. If something falls outside my scope or I think another healthcare professional would be better placed to help, I'm happy to recommend that you seek further assessment or work alongside other practitioners where appropriate.
